These grades are based on objective factors and are not intended, nor should they be construed, to be an endorsement or opposition of any candidate.
This interactive visualization lets users compare the grades, ranks, and scores of states and governors. Hovering over a section of the diamond grid, a grade/rank/score on either axis, the overall grade/rank/score on the right, or a state dot will highlight the corresponding item. The category columns on the left show the highlighted states’ or governors’ position in each policy category. It also works in the reverse: Hovering over a dot in a category column will highlight that state or governor and their place on the grid. Scores are normalized and range from ten (best) to zero (worst). Ranks range from 1 (best) to 50 (worst).
