Amanda Griffiths is the editorial director at the Cato Institute’s Center for Monetary and Financial Alternatives and managing editor of the Cato Journal. She also works inter-departmentally as a content reviewer for other Cato policy papers. Amanda obtained her MA from the University of Chicago, where she concentrated on political and social thought, and her BA from the University of Southern California, where she concentrated on political science, acting, and Italian.

Amanda’s general research interests include political economy, political parties and public opinion, and theories of liberty, power, and reason. She writes extensively on Machiavelli’s political thought, and is currently investigating the intellectual relationship between Machiavelli and the Stoic tradition.
