As the Iran war continues, questions surrounding the country’s nuclear program remain. Sina Azodi’s book traces the evolution of Iran’s nuclear ambitions and strategy in the broader context of its relationship with the United States. The book argues that because the strategic logic behind Iran’s nuclear program transcends the nature of its regime, dismantling the Iranian nuclear program is not a viable policy option for the United States. Instead, the US must learn to live with a nuclear threshold state while working to keep Iran as far away from the bomb as possible. Ariel (Eli) Levite, an expert on nuclear proliferation and the former principal deputy director general for policy at the Israeli Atomic Energy Commission, will offer comments.

Iran and the Bomb: The United States, Iran, and the Nuclear Question

Iran’s nuclear program remains one of the most contentious issues of modern international politics. This book is the first to trace the evolution of Iran’s nuclear strategy (program) in the broader context of its relationship with the United States, from the early days of total US support in the 1950s to the staunch opposition that followed the Iranian revolution, and its reconstitution.
