Jeff Vanderslice is a Director of Government Affairs at the Cato Institute. He is principally focused on criminal justice, civil liberties, and separation of powers issues. Prior to joining Cato, Jeff spent a decade working on Capitol Hill on a variety of domestic policy issues, including drug policy reform. Among other policy achievements, Jeff was integrally involved with the enactment of a provision in law that bars the Department of Justice from using appropriated funds to prosecute individuals who are in compliance with their state’s medical marijuana laws. 

Jeff holds an M.A. in government from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in political science from California State University, Fullerton.
