Harvard University is reportedly considering the creation of a new academic center aimed at increasing ideological diversity by elevating right-leaning perspectives on campus. According to Andrew Gillen, a research fellow at the Cato Institute, this move comes amid a broader trend of colleges shifting away from the pursuit of truth in favor of advancing social justice narratives.

Gillen argues that if colleges and universities are serious about restoring intellectual diversity and a genuine commitment to truth, they should adopt the ICEHE framework:

  • I: Independence
  • C: Competition for required courses
  • E: Equitable funding
  • H: Hiring freedom
  • E: Even playing field.

While many institutions have implemented elements of this approach, Gillen emphasizes that its full impact is only realized when adopted comprehensively.
