In a new blog post, Cato trade policy expert Colin Grabow says, “The measures amount to a costly and heavy-handed interventionism more redolent of Beijing’s economic practices than the free market the United States has traditionally defended.” Highlighting the economic risks of new federal shipping regulations, Grabow warns in New Shipping Fees and Requirements Pose Fresh Threat to US Economy that unless the administration reverses course, the rules will “impose fresh costs and uncertainty on a US economy that can ill afford either.”
