Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents continue to doxx protesters and track their movements in real-time using commercially available data on American citizens. A new op-ed from Patrick Eddington, a senior fellow in homeland security and civil liberties at the Cato Institute, urges Congress to protect the private information of Americans, writing in part:

“The expiration of Section 702 provides a rare legislative moment. Lawmakers should not focus narrowly on one formal surveillance authority while ignoring the unchecked bureaucratic and commercial powers that allow government agents to surveil Americans with minimal or no judicial oversight.

Our privacy and constitutional rights should not be up for sale — at any price.”
