Washington, D.C. – The Cato Institute Board of Directors, in a meeting held earlier this week, elected Robert A. (“Rob”) Taylor, CEO of EBC Management, as a new director.

“Rob and his family have been members of the Cato community for a long time, but it’s a special pleasure to welcome someone with his passion and energy to our Board of Directors,” said Peter Goettler, President and CEO of the Cato Institute. “Rob and I have a common vision that’s at the heart of Cato’s work: those of us who have lived in freedom have a special responsibility to preserve liberty and the American dream for future generations.”

Prior to founding EBC, Taylor worked 22 years at Harris Associates, a Chicago-based investment firm founded in 1976, serving as a partner since 2003.

Taylor served as the Director of International Research at Harris for over a decade. In addition, from 2005 until his retirement in 2016, Taylor was co-portfolio manager for the Oakmark Global Fund, and from 2008 also co-managed the Oakmark International Fund.

Rob and his wife, Jamie, have been active with the Cato Institute for more than 10 years, with a special interest in education reform and school choice.

“I am very excited to work with the incredible team at the Cato Institute and help promote its mission. The pursuit of individual liberty and limited government are so important, especially given the current environment of less freedom and increased government overreach” said Taylor.

Taylor earned his BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He and family reside in Winnetka, Ill.
