Campaign finance regulation has been falling apart. Three presidential candidates have chosen not to use public funding. Both parties are accused of flouting the soft money ban. However, the Supreme Court has upheld McCain‐​Feingold including restrictions on political advertising. Are we about to enter a new era of extensive restrictions on money in politics?
