Fifty years ago, a handful of people convinced that liberty was worth fighting for started an institution built on principles, not politics, and set out to challenge the public policy status quo.

From September 24–26, 2027, Cato will mark its 50th anniversary at its headquarters in Washington, DC, with a specially themed Benefactor Summit weekend. Fifty years is a milestone, but the weekend is about more than looking back. It will reflect on the Institute’s impact and lay out the plan for the decade ahead. The program will include guest speakers, special guests, and celebrations with Cato’s closest Partners.
