Thomas A. Firey is managing editor of the Cato Institute’s magazine Regulation. He also is senior fellow for the Maryland Public Policy Institute. Before coming to Cato, Firey worked in both academia and journalism; he is a former college instructor of philosophy and newspaper reporter. Firey has published op-eds in the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, Hartford Courant, and the Baltimore Sun. Firey holds a bachelors in political science from St. Mary’s College of Md., a masters in philosophy from Virginia Tech, and is pursuing a doctorate in economics at George Mason University.
