Unionized government workers now outnumber those in the private sector. Public-sector unions are insulated from competition and benefit directly from larger, more powerful government. The problems created by public sector unions, therefore, appear more intractable than problems of private sector unions. Armand Thieblot, author of Union Violence: The Record and the Response by Courts, Legislatures, and the NLRB, discussed these issues on Capitol Hill.
