One of the greatest myths of our time is that foreign aid can help Africa fight poverty and increase growth. So says Zambian author Dambisa Moyo, who calls aid an "unmitigated economic, political, and humanitarian disaster" that has made Africans poorer. She will explain why aid fails and propose an "aid-free solution" to development based on the experience of successful African countries. Todd Moss will comment on the book and aid effectiveness by drawing on his research and work in the region, most recently as Deputy Assistant Secretary of African Affairs in the U.S. Department of State.
