Cato welcomed members of the 116th Congress at a Capitol Hill reception on January 16, shortly after the start of their terms on January 3. Attendees included a bipartisan group of lawmakers from both the House and the Senate. Four legislators addressed the audience on topics ranging from foreign policy to the Fourth Amendment: Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH), and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA). Others in attendance included Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), Rep. Doug LaMalfa (R-CA), and Rep. Carol Miller (R-WV). See photos on page 4.
FRIEND OF CATO NAMED NOTRE DAME LAW SCHOOL DEAN
Marcus Cole, a leading scholar of law and economics who sits on the editorial board of the Cato Supreme Court Review and has been a frequent speaker at Cato University seminars, has been named the new dean of Notre Dame Law School. Cole’s presentations at Cato University, on topics such as “Money without Government” and “The Law of Autocracy versus the Law of Markets,” can be found on Cato’s website.
