Matt Weibel is a Director of Government Affairs at the Cato Institute. He focuses on expanding Cato’s presence on Capitol Hill by facilitating dialogue between Cato scholars and members of Congress, informing congressional staff of the latest Cato scholarship, and making sure Cato scholars are aware of what’s happening in Congress. Matt has nearly a decade of experience working for the House of Representatives. Prior to joining Cato, he served as deputy chief of staff for Representative Justin Amash and as executive director of the House Liberty Caucus.

Matt was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated cum laude from Hillsdale College with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
