Food and Drug Administration regulations deny terminally ill patients access to experimental drugs that could prolong or save their lives. Charging that this policy “operates as a death sentence for those patients,” the Abigail Alliance for Better Access to Developmental Drugs has filed a citizen petition with — and a lawsuit against — the FDA. A few of the people behind the Abigail Alliance will discuss what it really means to fight for patients’ rights.
