A few years ago, the Catallarchy group blog started an annual tradition of using May 1st to commemorate the horrors of communism. [This year’s lineup](http://catallarchy.net/blog/archives/2006/05/01/may-day-2006-a-day-of-remembrance/) is particularly good, and includes essays by historian [R.J. Rummel](http://catallarchy.net/blog/archives/2006/05/01/how-many-did-stalin-really-murder/) and George Mason University economist [Bryan Caplan](http://catallarchy.net/blog/archives/2006/05/01/the-road-to-hell-was-paved-with-bad-intentions/), as well as [a short memoir](http://catallarchy.net/blog/archives/2006/05/01/in-the-proletariats-paradise/) by Polish deportee Romuald Lipinski.
