#### Summer 2026

Join us for the Cato Institute’s 2026 Congressional Fellowship in Free Market Solutions for Affordability – a nine‐week fellowship for congressional policy staff who are interested in affordability solutions based on the philosophical roots and practical applications of free market economics from a libertarian perspective. Open to Capitol Hill policy staff of any party or ideology, economist and non‐economists alike, the fellowship will consist of weekly receptions and discussions featuring experts from various fields of economics.

Through readings, lectures, and discussions, participants will have an opportunity to explore affordability on issues such as the war on prices and the state of affordability, health care costs and consumer-centered markets, and trade barriers and the cost of everyday goods. ### [Affordability at a Glance](https://www.cato.org/affordability)

Today’s affordability squeeze mainly reflects the legacy of recent inflation. The best policy answer is sound money and sustainable fiscal policy to keep inflation low, paired with more economic freedom to supply life’s essentials.
