# Senate Budget Serves “Dessert First, Spinach Later”

July 2, 2025 • News Releases

In a new [article](https://www.nationalreview.com/2025/07/the-senate-budget-offers-dessert-first-spinach-later/) for *National Review*, health-policy expert [Michael F. Cannon](https://www.cato.org/people/michael-f-cannon) criticizes the Senate’s latest budget, saying it “perpetuates a system where politicians impose massive tax burdens on future generations to enrich today’s special interests.”

He warns that this approach saddles taxpayers with today’s spending binge and tomorrow’s bill.
