# Randal O’Toole addresses problems with land-use planning. 

Long-range planning by government land-use planners – while it disrespects individual choices – also gets lots of stuff wrong. Very wrong. Cato Institute Senior Fellow [Randal O’Toole](/people/randal-otoole) addressed some of the problems with long-term land-use planning at Cato University in Rancho Bernardo, California in July. O’Toole is author of the forthcoming Cato book, *Gridlock*.
