## Internship Application

Cato’s mission is to advance the principles of individual liberty, limited government, free markets, and peace. Central to this mission is intellectual integrity and independent thought—[**the core of Cato’s work**](https://www.cato.org/cato-institute-2023-annual-report/statement-principles).

As you prepare your application, we encourage you to express your authentic self. Share your unique perspective and original ideas, demonstrating your ability to think independently. We value creativity and personal effort and expect your application to reflect your genuine thoughts, not the output of AI tools.

At Cato, we hold our interns to the Standard of Excellence, which includes integrity, curiosity, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous learning. We expect responses demonstrating depth, authenticity, and alignment with these principles. This is an opportunity to showcase your intellectual integrity and ability to contribute meaningfully to Cato’s work.
