February 12, 2015 5:23PM # You Asked Cato EVP David Boaz Anything. Here’s What Happened… By [Kat Murti](https://www.cato.org/people/kat-murti) --- SHARE Over his 33 years at Cato and through his earlier activities in the libertarian policy sphere, Cato’s Executive Vice President [David Boaz](https://www.cato.org/people/david-boaz) has played a key role in the development of both the Cato Institute and the libertarian movement at large; he even wrote the [Encyclopedia Britannica entry on libertarianism](http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/339321/libertarianism)! On Tuesday, in conjunction with the release of his new book, [*The Libertarian Mind: A Manifesto for Freedom*](https://www.cato.org/libertarianmind) (which, incidentally, sold out on Amazon within hours), Boaz [took to Reddit’s iAMA forum](http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2vhlbd/i_am_david_boaz_cato_institute_evp_and_author_of/) to discuss libertarianism, his book, and the burgoening “[libertarian moment](https://www.cato.org/blog/libertarian-moment-0),” inviting Redditors of all ilks to ask him *anything*. During the hour long Q&A session, Boaz tackled a wide-array of questions, weighing in on everything from the [drug war](http://www.reddit.com/user/cnosko00) and [abortion](http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2vhlbd/i_am_david_boaz_cato_institute_evp_and_author_of/cohqui8) to [effective strategies for social change](http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2vhlbd/i_am_david_boaz_cato_institute_evp_and_author_of/cohp463) and [the efficacy of libertarian governance](http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2vhlbd/i_am_david_boaz_cato_institute_evp_and_author_of/cohqe3d). Each one of his responses ignited impassioned debates amongst the forum’s diverse audience as commenters from all sides of the political spectrum hashed out the ideas of liberty. The [resulting discussion](http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/2vhlbd/i_am_david_boaz_cato_institute_evp_and_author_of/) is a fascinating one, very much worth your attention.
