The [Springdale (Ark.) Police ](http://www.springdalear.gov/department/police_department/index.php)Department put together a recruitment video for new officers. The video is getting some attention—for its militarism. Take a look:

![Media Name: police-recruiting-video-ghillie.jpg](/sites/cato.org/files/styles/pubs_2x/public/wp-content/uploads/police-recruiting-video-ghillie.jpg?itok=F_zuaxQQ)

The video shows armored vehicles, flash bang grenades, and (at the 2:30 min. mark) officers dressed in ghillie suits.

The over-the-top nature of militarized policing is getting more attention. I was interviewed about another [police recruiting video here](http://www.policemisconduct.net/hobbs-police-dept-commercial/). And see this recent [article](http://www.esquire.com/blogs/news/local-police-tanks?src=nl&mag=esq&list=nl_enl_oth_non_041214_local-police) in *Esquire*, for example.

More than any organization (at least that I’m aware of), Cato has been [sounding](https://www.cato.org/publications/briefing-paper/warrior-cops-ominous-growth-paramilitarism-american-police-departments) [the](https://www.cato.org/publications/white-paper/overkill-rise-paramilitary-police-raids-america) [alarm](https://www.cato.org/publications/policy-analysis/deployed-us-creeping-militarization-home-front) about this disturbing trend.
