Matt Yglesias [writes](http://thinkprogress.org/yglesias/2011/07/07/262683/medicaid-improves-health-outcome/):

> a new rigorous study from Oregon [confirms that Medicaid does, indeed, save lives](http://www.slate.com/id/2298463/)

As *The Atlantic*’s Megan McArdle [writes](http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2011/07/how-much-does-medicaid-improve-well-being/241587/): “This is exactly what the study does *not* find.” Like McArdle, I [read](www.nationalreview.com/articles/271252/oregon-s-verdict-medicaid-michael-f-cannon) [the study](http://www.nber.org/papers/w17190.pdf), and can confirm this. Or perhaps Yglesias can direct us to the part of the study where he read that.…

If Yglesias could see in this rigorous study something that isn’t actually there, does that mean there’s a chance that the motivations he assigns to [ObamaCare](https://www.cato.org/bad-medicine/) opponents — they “want to deny life-saving medical care to the poor” — may not comport to reality either?
