A variety of news outlets are reporting that Wilson Center scholar [Haleh Esfandiari](https://www.cato.org/2007/05/30/a-travesty-in-tehran/) [has been released from Evin prison “on bail,”](http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSKIM14988220070821?&src=082107_1310_TOPSTORY_dean_batters_mexico) and Reuters is reporting that Esfandiari’s lawyer, Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi, is stating that Esfandiari is now “legally allowed to leave the country.” Encouraging news.

Meanwhile, our thoughts and prayers are still with [Kian Tajbakhsh](http://www.freekian.org/), [Ali Shakeri](http://www.topix.net/content/trb/0649953801056260408632150903541134880501), [Parnaz Azima](http://www.rferl.org/specials/nazi_azima/), and their friends and families.
