Bill Clinton caught more hell for his affair with [Monica Lewinsky](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monica_Lewinsky) than he did for [trashing the Constitution](https://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=1130). And so it goes with Eliot Spitzer. The history books will say Spitzer was a “crusading prosecutor” that was brought down by a [sex scandal](http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/10/nyregion/10cnd-spitzer.html?em&ex=1205380800&en=252bf166fa539bc3&ei=5087%0A). But it was Spitzer’s so-called “[crusade](https://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=4241)” that was his real [crime](https://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=3115).
