Today, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences [awarded](http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/10/13/paul-krugman-wins-economics-nobel/?hp) Princeton University economist and *New York Times* columnist Paul Krugman the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences “[for his analysis of trade patterns and location of economic activity](http://www.kva.se/KVA_Root/eng/_news/detail.asp?NewsId=1101).”

I recently [debated](http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=94812584) Krugman on whether it’s a good idea for government to guarantee universal health insurance coverage. But today I have nothing but congratulations for him.
