Just before the holidays, DC Mayor Adrian M. Fenty tried to give his police chief [sweeping subpoena powers](http://www.dcexaminer.com/local/121908-Nickles_defends_subpoena_power_for_police.html), but the DC Council just [thwarted that gambit.](http://www.examiner.com/a-1780201~D_C__Council_votes_to_deny_Lanier_s_subpoena_power.html) This comes shortly after the Supreme Court declared DC’s gun restrictions [unconstitutional](http://www.catostore.org/index.asp?fa=ProductDetails&method=cats&scid=47&pid=1441412). Mayor Fenty and his awful attorney general, Peter Nickels, need to chill.
