For more than a quarter century, the Cato Institute has been an effective voice for liberty in our nation's capital, advocating a smaller, less intrusive federal government.

Cato undertakes an extensive publications program that addresses the complete spectrum of policy issues. Books, monographs, and studies are commissioned to examine the federal budget, Social Security, regulation, foreign policy, trade and a range of other issues. Cato's publishes an array of respected periodicals-including Regulation magazine, Cato Journal, Policy Report, and Cato's Letter — and maintains six websites, including the Spanish-language www.elcato.org.

Cato's scholars make regular appearances on C-SPAN and a range of television and radio news and talk programs, including CNN's Crossfire, ABC's Nightline, Fox News's The O'Reilly Factor, MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, and more. Each year Cato hosts over 100 policy forums, conferences, Capitol Hill briefings, and other events in Washington, across the nation, and around the world.

In addition to scholarly studies, the Institute's scholars produce hundreds of op-eds and articles in leading newspapers and magazines each year, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, and USA Today, among others.

From media appearances, policy studies, and book publishing to Capitol Hill visits, conferences, and outreach to college students, the Cato Institute is America's leading voice for individual liberty and limited government.

A donation to Cato not only helps our scholars continue producing, but helps our support and communications staff put the message of freedom in the newspapers, on the bookshelves, and on the airwaves.
