Civil Rights

The Cato Institute publishes an array of research and opinion on civil rights issues. While opposing all forms of state-sponsored discrimination, classical liberals generally hold the position that market forces are the best way to remedy private discrimination. Cato also maintains that most civil rights stem from the right to property, and so we include property rights in our collection of research on civil rights.
