Jamie Dettmer served as director of media relations at Cato from 2004 to 2008. Before joining Cato in 2004 as director of media relations, Dettmer was a journalist and broadcaster, serving on the staffs of The Times of London, Sunday Telegraph, the Bonnier Media Group and the Washington Times Corp. He has written also for several other major US and UK publications and was an associate producer on the BBC's award-winning documentary series The Spying Game. A regular guest on television news and current affairs shows, Dettmer covered several wars during his career and has run newspaper bureaus in the Middle East, Russia and Europe. He is a graduate of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, where he took Double Honors in History and English.
