Daniel T. Griswold is Director of the Center for Trade Policy Studies at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC. Since joining Cato in 1997, Mr. Griswold has authored or co-authored major studies on globalization, trade and immigration, including the 2007 study, "Trading Up: How Expanding Trade has Delivered Better Jobs and Higher Living Standards." He has authored articles for the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the Financial Times, and other major publications and has appeared on C-SPAN, CNN, PBS, the BBC, and Fox News. He has testified before congressional committees and federal agencies on a range of trade and immigration issues. Earlier in his career, he served as a congressional press secretary and the editorial page editor of the Colorado Springs Gazette. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a diploma in economics and a master's degree in the Politics of the World Economy from the London School of Economics.
