Cato in CFC Campaign

WASHINGTON -- The Cato Institute is participating for the first time this year in the Combined Federal Campaign. Cato's CFC number is 2963.

Cato invites all military personnel and federal civilian employees to include the Institute in their CFC contributions this year. Cato is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt educational foundation. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Founded in 1977, Cato is a nonpartisan public policy research organization -- a "think tank" -- headquartered in Washington, D.C. The Institute is named for Cato's Letters, pamphlets that helped lay the philosophical foundation for the American Revolution.

Cato seeks to broaden the conversation about public policy by consistently promoting the traditional American values of limited government, individual liberty and free markets. Toward that goal, Cato's policy experts engage concerned individuals in the public and private sectors in questions regarding policy and the proper role of government.

Each year, the Cato Institute commissions and publishes more than a dozen scholarly and popular books, and scores of shorter studies, on a wide range of policy issues, including education, free speech, Social Security, regulation, federalism, the rule of law, globalism and the environment.
