Liberty on the Web

Access to information furthers freedom. The Cato Institute maintains actively updated websites in four languages to advance the frontiers of freedom around the world.

www.elcato.org Since 1995 the Cato Institute has offered its research findings in English through its award-winning website, www.cato.org. The site offers thousands of articles, studies, and publications on policy issues, as well as video streaming of events, the Cato Store, and more.

In 1998 Cato initiated a Spanish-language website, www.elcato.org, with translations of numerous Cato studies, as well as unique material written in Spanish. In 2005 Cato launched two additional websites, one in Russian and one in Arabic. The Russian-language site, www.cato.ru, features a library of Russian-language books, as well as papers on policy analysis, current commentary, and more. The Arabic site, www.misbahalhurriyya.org (www.lampofliberty.org, which is both a translation of the Arabic name and an address that directs visitors to the site), also features Arabic-language books, policy papers, and short studies.

www.cato.ru The Spanish, Russian, and Arabic websites are coordinated, like Cato's English-language website, with programs that send short commentaries ("op-eds") to newspapers. The articles are run with the website addresses at the end, providing advertising for the websites and driving traffic to them. Through those four websites, as well as through other English-language websites maintained by Cato (e.g., www.freetrade.org, www.socialsecurity.org), the Institute is working to advance the frontiers of freedom around the world.

www.misbahalhurriyya.org An initial grant from the Templeton Foundation made www.cato.ru possible. www.misbahalhurriyya.org is an initiative of the Byrne Project on Middle East Liberty.
