Fifty years ago this month, the U.S. Supreme Court, in Brown v. Board of Education, struck down “separate but equal” in order to attain educational equality. But today there is still concern over educational inequality, particularly for minorities living in America’s urban centers. What is the next step needed to improve education for all children across the country? U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige will deliver opening remarks, followed by a panel discussion featuring several contributors to the new Cato Institute book, Educational Freedom in Urban America: Brown v. Board after Half a Century.
