The recent collapses of Enron and WorldCom and revelations of accounting irregularities at other major U.S. corporations led Congress to pass the Sarbanes-Oxley Act over the summer. That legislation is intended to tighten up accounting standards and increase regulation of the accounting industry. However, many fear that Sarbanes-Oxley will ultimately be detrimental to investors while failing to resolve the problems that afflict corporate accounting. Please join us for a timely discussion on the future of the accounting industry.
