In his new book, John Attarian argues that politicians have misrepresented the Social Security program from its inception, misleading the public and preventing an honest debate about the program and its problems. As a result, reforming the program has become both more necessary and more difficult. Attarian warns that without a clearer idea of what Social Security is and how it works, change will be impossible. Two distinguished experts with very different viewpoints will comment.
