For 25 years the Cato Institute has been in the business of advancing the idea of liberty. Although, as Thomas Jefferson reminds us, "the natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground," liberty has made incredible advances in the United States and around the world. Everywhere that governments allow it, people are choosing open markets, open societies, and responsibility for their own lives.

In celebration of the Cato Institute's 25th anniversary, the Institute’s executive vice president, David Boaz, has released a book documenting the course of liberty over the past 25 years. Join us for a look back over the political changes of the past 25 years and a discussion of the Cato Institute's role in the world of ideas, the politics of Washington, D.C., and policymaking on Capitol Hill.
