COMMENTARY
What Mitt and Hillary Have in Common, by Michael F.
Cannon. Mitt Romney has had to tap dance around the health-care reforms he
enacted while governor of Massachusetts. The first bad news was that the plan's
cost was higher than predicted. Then it reneged on its commitment to cover the
uninsured. But the latest news may require even fancier footwork. The Left is
now thanking Romney for making HillaryCare respectable again.
A Progressive Backlash?, by Alan Reynolds. It suddenly
became clear that Sen. Hillary Clinton and her advisers intend to run a negative
presidential campaign -- not negative about other candidates, but about the U.S.
economy. Mrs. Clinton considers herself "a thoroughly optimistic and modern
progressive." Optimistic progressives and liberals find her old-fashioned and
grumpy.

CATO BLOG HIGHLIGHTS
- IRAQ AS ANOTHER SOUTH KOREA?
In a recent post on Cato's daily blog, Cato@Liberty, Foreign Policy Analyst Justin Logan is
astounded by President Bush's recent remarks on his Iraq strategy. "Just when
you think things can't get any weirder, the White House has announced, per
Reuters, that President Bush would like to see a US military presence in Iraq
modeled on the one in South Korea... Readers may object that the US
military has maintaned a robust presence on the Korean peninsula for half a
century."
