What in the world are we trying to achieve here?

By almost any measure, personal well-being — life expectancies, living standards and personal choices — is increasing far more rapidly in the smaller-government, lower-tax states than in the big-government states.

Farm subsidies make political sense for many members of Congress. But they make no practical sense because they damage the economy, hurt the environment, and are grossly unfair.
